Meet Amira Irfan
I’m the business lawyer, 7-figure blogger, and coach behind A Self Guru, a company that helps entrepreneurs make money online and legally protect their businesses through my affordable legal templates and coaching services.
My business and legal expertise have been featured in 200+ media outlets such as Ticker News, Yahoo Finance, International Business Times, US Times Now, Thrive Global, Authority Magazine, Influencive, and many others.
How It All Started for Amira Irfan
I decided to become a lawyer after watching my father's business being sued for $90,000 in damages. It was a common legal mistake made by many new business owners. My father did not use a legal contract with a freelancer he hired to help him grow his business (check out our freelance contract template).
This freelancer filed a massive lawsuit against us and our family business. It would be an understatement to say it was devastating.
The lawsuit destroyed the business, caused tremendous stress for our family, and changed the course of my life. The harsh reality is that we could have avoided so much pain and financial loss if my father had invested in proper legal documents.
Seeing my family struggle through that difficult time inspired me to assist other entrepreneurs in avoiding the same mistakes my father made. That’s why I came to be a lawyer.
I’ve been working as a lawyer for more than 10 years now, and prior to that, I was a teacher and model.
I’ve always been passionate about helping and working with others. While helping my father with the legalities of the lawsuit, I discovered my life’s true “purpose and passion.”
Over the years, I’ve seen thousands of entrepreneurs become confused, frustrated, and intimidated by the legal side of their business, so I enjoy helping and making the legal process simple and affordable for them.
Why She Created Her Site, A Self Guru
I loved working as a lawyer. However, while working my 9 to 5 job, I quickly realized that my time was limited and that I could only help a few people in a single day. I wanted to help a lot more business owners by protecting their businesses from legal liability.
That's when I decided to put my legal knowledge to use by launching A Self Guru, where I offer done-for-you legal templates and discounted legal bundles that are an affordable, simple, and efficient way for business owners to legally protect themselves from lawsuits, like the one my father faced, without having to hire an expensive lawyer.
These are a complete set of legal documents that can be customized to your specific business and used right away.
What Amira Offers
In my legal store, you’ll find 25+ different legal templates to protect your online business, ranging from a privacy policy for your website to a freelance contract to an LLC operating agreement, and a lot more! These are all legal templates that entrepreneurs have actually requested from me.
My goal is to provide legal protection at a low cost so that anyone can immediately download the forms and start using them without paying thousands of dollars in legal fees or making costly legal mistakes without them.
In addition to individual legal templates, I offer a variety of discounted legal bundles designed specifically for bloggers, entrepreneurs, freelancers, coaches, interior designers, real estate professionals, and others.
Instead of purchasing each template individually from my store and paying full price, you can save more money and time by purchasing a discounted legal bundle instead.
Her Templates and Bundles

How Much Money Per Month Amira Irfan is Making
I’ve scaled my blogging business to $78,000 a month, which allowed me to quit my 9 to 5 job as a lawyer and become a full-time blogger and entrepreneur! It took me 2 years to reach this level of income.
I did it through a combination of:
- Selling my products and services
- Affiliate marketing and sponsorships
- Paid interviews
Amira Irfan's Progression
I launched my blogging business in just 7 days with my full-time job as a lawyer. At the time, I made $1,000 in my first month of blogging!
Then I doubled my blogging income the next month and made $3700 in just two months. After that, I made $10,000 in four months and $20,000 six months later. So in my first year of blogging, I made $210,000 while working full-time as a lawyer.
In my second year of blogging, I started to make $50,000 to $78,000 a month on average. When you add it all up, by the end of my second year of blogging, I had earned over seven figures.
Resources She Used
I purchased the Pro Blogger bundle by Create and Go, which was quite comprehensive and taught me everything I needed to start and scale my blogging business quickly. This is the only resource I used to get started.
All I did was follow the detailed instructions in the course to launch my blog in just 7 days.
During my first month, I made $1000 through affiliate marketing, publishing a sponsored post, and selling my legal templates. I created my digital products (legal templates) in my first month of blogging, which allowed me to monetize my blog quickly.
As for traffic, I guest posted and collaborated with other established bloggers and entrepreneurs who became my affiliates. This strategy helped me gain visibility and reach a bigger audience.
Collaborating with other bloggers in your niche is a great way to get exposure and reach a bigger audience. Not only will you be able to share your content with their readers, but you'll also be able to tap into their networks as well. This is a great way to grow your blog and get more traffic!
Amira’s Next Steps
Over the next 2, 4, and 6 months, I created my Facebook group for bloggers and entrepreneurs, which helped build trust and credibility. Having my own Facebook group also allowed me to share my content, products, and other services with my target audience.
Joining a few relevant groups is a great way to connect with other bloggers who can help you grow your blog. These groups provide a great place to ask questions, get advice, and share your latest content.
I also utilized social media platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest to drive traffic to my blog.
I would share my blog posts multiple times throughout the day, as well as interact with other users on these platforms. This helped me to build relationships with other entrepreneurs, as well as get my content in front of a larger audience.
I also participated in summits and events to get my name and brand out there, and I appeared as a guest on different podcasts to talk about my products and services.
Overall, I've found that it's important to be strategic and creative when it comes to marketing your blog and business. You have to be willing to try new things and put yourself out there.
Other Strategies During Her First Year
One of the best ways I made that money was by establishing an affiliate program for my products from the start.
It is critical to establish your own affiliate program from the very beginning, or you will lose money.
You want to set up your own affiliate program from the start, where your buyers can become your affiliates and promote your products for you, just like you promote other people's products and earn commissions.
My affiliate program is open to everyone (not just my customers), and everyone earns a generous 40% commission on each product.
By having an affiliate program, my customers are able to recoup their investment, and become my best salespeople by recommending my products to others.
This is an amazing way to get your customers involved in the success of your business, while also providing them with an incentive to continue doing business with you. I highly recommend setting up an affiliate program for your products.
I’ve paid more than $150,000 back to my customers so far. Having my affiliate program is a great way to market my products and services to a new audience and reach a wider range of people for free.
I’ve found that by offering a generous commission on sales, I’m able to attract new affiliates who are eager to promote my products. This has helped me reach a larger audience and increase my sales significantly.
As of right now, we have 1654 affiliates.
Amira Irfan’s Top Marketing Strategy
My top strategies are email marketing and getting repeat customers. I’ve always focused on customer retention and used my email list to build relationships with my customers.
Email marketing has always been one of the most effective ways to connect with my customers and build relationships. It allows you to reach a large audience with minimal effort and costs, and it’s a great way to stay in touch with your customers.
Unlike social media platforms that go through algorithm changes, your email list is a more secure way of marketing to your customers. You own your list, and no algorithm can take that away from you.
Repeat customers are the bread and butter of any business, so it’s important to focus on customer retention. By providing great products or services and excellent customer service, as well as discounts and promotions, you can keep your customers coming back for more.
How She Ensures Repeat Customers
Because I sell 25+ different legal templates and bundles, when a customer buys one, they almost always need another legal template or bundle from my store.
For example, let’s say someone purchases my Starter legal bundle of website policies for their site. They will also need my ADA website compliance legal bundle at some point.
They will also need additional business contracts to work with others in their business, such as a coaching agreement, consulting agreement, freelance contract, guest blogger agreement, sponsorship agreement, and others.
Her Unique Marketing Strategies
I remember in my first year of blogging, I used guest posting to increase traffic to my website and build relationships with other bloggers. When you guest post on high-traffic blogs, your brand name is exposed to a wider audience. This increased exposure led to more website visitors, social media followers, and customers.
Guest posting is a great way to get your name out there and to increase traffic to your website. It definitely helped build my network, reputation, and increase sales.
This year, I'm focusing more on videos, so I'm expanding my YouTube channel to increase my visibility, as videos are becoming increasingly popular. I'm also working on increasing my social media following because that's a great way to build an audience.
YouTube Growth Strategies
Below are the strategies I’m using to grow my YouTube channel right now:
- Creating engaging and high-quality content for my target audience
- Promoting my channel through social media (my Facebook group, Instagram, Pinterest, and email list)
- Collaborating with other YouTubers and influencers in my niche
- Conducting keyword research to identify popular search terms that I can target with my content
- Creating eye-catching thumbnails and titles for my videos
- Optimizing my videos for SEO (search engine optimization)
- Analyzing my channel data regularly to track my progress and identify areas for improvement
The Importance of SEO (and Pinterest)
SEO is extremely important for any business including mine. I want potential customers to be able to find me easily when they search for keywords related to my business.
Additionally, SEO helps me to build trust and credibility with potential customers. By ensuring that my website appears high in the search results, I can show potential customers that I am a reliable and trustworthy business.
Having said that, I've relied on Pinterest traffic more than SEO, particularly in my first year of business. Pinterest is another excellent way to raise brand awareness and reach your target audience much faster than SEO.
So if you're just starting out, I recommend focusing on Pinterest as well. Work on establishing a strong presence on Pinterest while creating SEO-optimized content at the same time.
Amira Irfan’s SEO Strategy
I focus on both on-page and off-page SEO strategies such as link building, social media outreach, and content marketing to improve my website's ranking in search engines. My goal is always to increase my visibility online and help attract more leads and sales.
Some of my SEO strategies include:
- Optimizing website content for target keywords
I research low competition target keywords and make sure they’re included in my blog posts in a way that’s both natural and effective.
Additionally, I try to use keyword-rich titles and descriptions to improve SEO and make sure the content is well-written and engaging. I also use images to break up text and keep readers interested.
- Building high-quality backlinks from authoritative websites
- Creating social media profiles and promoting content through those channels
- Conducting keyword research to identify the best keywords to target
There are a few different factors I consider when choosing keywords, including:
- What are my customers searching for?
- Which keywords will help me reach your target customer?
- Which keywords have high search volume but low competition?
I use a variety of tools to help with keyword research, including Ahrefs, Google AdWords Keyword Planner, and Google Trends. I also look at my competitors to see what keywords they’re targeting. Then I put together a list of potential keywords and start creating content around them.
- Regularly monitoring website analytics to track SEO progress and identify areas for improvement
- Staying up-to-date with the latest SEO trends and changes in algorithms
To do this, I make sure to use a variety of resources. This includes industry-leading blogs, fora, and online communities. I also subscribe to Ahrefs, so I can receive timely updates straight to my inbox.
Link Building
Link building is a vital part of any SEO strategy.
There are many different ways to build links. Some common link-building strategies include guest blogging, directories, and social media. As mentioned above, I’ve used guest blogging/posting to build backlinks and increase traffic to my site, which has proven to be quite effective.
I've also used the HARO (Help a Reporter Out) service to get featured on authoritative sites and gain additional exposure for my business.
Directory listings can help improve your website's visibility and make it easier for people to find your business online. Moreover, I’ve used social media as a tool for link building; sharing links to your website's content on popular social media platforms can help increase traffic to your site and earn you more links.
Her Favorite Way to Make Money Blogging
There are different ways I make money from my blog, such as affiliate marketing, selling my own products and services, sponsorship deals, paid interviews, and more. But my favorite way of making money blogging is selling my own digital products because it’s a great way to make passive income.
Selling your own digital products gives you control over your income and how you earn it. You can create products that are relevant to your niche and which reach your target audience.
If you’ve been blogging for a while, then you probably have some sort of an audience already. And if you don’t have an audience yet, selling digital products is a great way to start building one.
Some digital products that bloggers can sell easily include ebooks, courses, templates, stock photos, and more. If you’re creative and have some skills to share, then you can definitely create and sell your own digital products to make money quickly.
Amira Irfan’s Top 3 Tools
There are so many awesome tools I use to run my business but here are the three most useful tools right now:
- Kartra
This is an all-in-one business platform I use to run my online business. It has everything I need to run my business, from creating and selling products to accepting payments and delivering content. Kartra is easy to use and has helped me streamline my business so I can focus on what I do best – creating great products!
If you're looking for an all-in-one platform to run your online business, I highly recommend Kartra!
- Canva
Canva is another great tool I can't live without because it helps me create graphics for my blog and social media platforms easily and quickly.
If you're not a designer and you need help creating visuals for your blog or social media, Canva is an amazing (and affordable) tool that can help you out. With its easy-to-use interface, you can create beautiful graphics without any design experience. And best of all, it's free! So if you're looking for an easy way to create stunning visuals, Canva is the way to go.
- Quickbooks
Quickbooks is another one of my favorite tools to manage my business finances. It allows me to keep track of my income and expenses, create invoices and estimates, run reports, and so much more. Quickbooks has been a lifesaver for me, especially during tax season, and I would highly recommend it to any small business owner.
Her Biggest Challenge
The biggest challenge I’ve faced with my business is definitely staying consistent. As my team has grown and we’ve added new platforms, it’s been difficult to keep everyone on the same page. There have been times when things haven’t gone as planned and we’ve had to start over from scratch.
For example, last year, we had big plans of launching new products and growing my YouTube channel, but I ended up in the emergency room for an unexpected surgery. That put everything on hold for months!
Thank God, my business was already established and I could leave things on autopilot, but still, it was a challenge to get back into the swing of things.
But that's part of the process of growing any business: unexpected events will occur, and you'll just have to roll with the punches!
Her Most Important Accomplishment
Helping my customers and clients go from struggling and frustrated with the law to breathing a huge sigh of relief in as little as 15 minutes is the biggest accomplishment and motivation behind running my business.
It's what gets me up in the morning, ready to take on whatever new legal challenges my customers or clients may be facing. I know that I can make a difference in their lives, and that's what drives me to keep going.
Without my customers, I wouldn't be able to do what I love. They’re the reason I’m here, and I am so grateful for each and every one of them. Knowing that I am helping people navigate the often confusing and overwhelming world of the law is incredibly rewarding.
I work hard to maintain a 5-star customer rating, and when I receive thousands of love notes saying, “Your legal templates are a lifesaver,” or “Your legal bundle was the best investment for my business that didn’t break the bank,” or “Thanks to your templates, I am able to sleep better at night knowing that my business is now protected,” it motivates me the most!
The ultimate goal is to make the legal side of your business simple and quick, and you will know you have achieved that goal when your customers begin to rave about you, your products, and services. It makes you want to work even harder.
What She Wishes She Knew Back Then
There are a few things that I wish I had known when starting my business.
First, I wish I had known how important it was to focus on SEO from the very beginning. I made the mistake of publishing blog posts without first learning SEO, which ended up costing me money and time in the long run.
Second, I wish I had known the importance of networking. It’s so important to build relationships with other businesses and individuals in your industry in order to grow your business.
Third, I wish I had known how important online marketing is. In today's world, potential customers are searching for businesses online, so it is crucial to have a strong online presence.
Finally, I wish I had known how important it is to always be learning and growing. As a business owner, you can never stop learning and investigating new trends in your industry. If you want to stay ahead of the competition, it’s important to continuously educate yourself.
Amira Irfan’s Biggest Mistake
The biggest mistake I've made on my entrepreneurial journey was hiring someone who didn't have the skillset or experience that I needed. This cost me valuable time and money as I had to then spend extra time and resources training them.
Now I'm very particular about screening and hiring only people who already have the necessary skills and experience. At the moment I have a team of 5 people working with me.
My Facebook group is where I find the best people. They are usually my customers who are familiar with my business. This makes training easier because I don't have to spend as much time explaining my business to them. I simply post the position in my Facebook group and receive a large number of applications.
I also use Upwork to find good talent for my business. There are a lot of very talented people there that can help you with just about any task or project you may have.
I've used Upwork to find designers, developers, and even customer service representatives for my business. The platform makes it very easy to find and hire freelancers, and the quality of work is usually quite good.
The best way to find the right person for the job is to spend some time doing research and then interviewing a few candidates to see who would be the best fit for your business.
Her Advice for Other Entrepreneurs
There are a few pieces of advice that I would give to entrepreneurs who are building their own businesses/websites right now.
First, I would recommend that they focus on creating a strong foundation for their business. This means creating a solid business plan and making sure that their business is legally protected from the very beginning. Have proper website policies and contracts in place BEFORE you launch your business.
Legal is the glue that holds your business together, so once you have a strong foundation in place, only then you can focus on growing your business with peace of mind.
Finally, I would tell them to never give up. Building a successful business takes time, energy, and dedication. If they keep at it, eventually they will see results.
