Webinar Replay: Niche Website Theme, Penguin Updates, and Niche Site Strategies

Last night Chris Guthrie and I held a webinar to highlight some of the updates we have made to the Niche Website Theme.  We actually spent about half the time talking in depth about the latest Penguin Updates and niche site strategies.

Specifically, we covered how to do keyword research and analyze the competitors in Google.  In the process of discussing the Penguin update, I also went over my new strategy for building sites.  I will most certainly still be building small niche sites, but I also plan on focusing on 1 larger site that I hope to have for many years to come.   Anyway, if you didn’t catch the webinar, we covered some GREAT content!

You can catch a replay of the webinar on this page here: Watch the Webinar Replay

The webinar itself went a little long – nearly an hour and a half!  That was due to the amount of content that we covered, and we spent a lot of time answering questions as well.

Overall, we spent the second half revealing a couple of really cool new features of the theme.  In particular, the theme will allow you to automatically blend in your Google Adsense ads to match the colors of the theme!  So, no matter what color you change your theme to, your ads will change colors right along with it.  And of course, we still give you 3 ad variations to test from; so one can match your theme colors, and the other 2 can be different colors. This will allow you to truly pick out a winning ad.

Anyway, just wanted to let you know that the webinar replay is available in case you missed it.

How Long Tail Pro Can Help You Capture Way More Search Engine Traffic

If your business could benefit in any way from getting more search engine traffic, I have some good news.

Search engines are in love with long tail keywords! If you are able to provide relevant content targeting these long tail keywords, then you can see a dramatic increase to the amount of traffic Google and other search engines send you.

Long Tail Pro is a powerful keyword research tool that makes finding these valuable long tail keywords a breeze.

What are “long tail keywords”? Essentially, these are words or phrases that people type into the search engines to find very specific things. Rather than searching for “dog training” a user might search for “how to potty train a pitbull”.

This is an example of a Long Tail Keyword. To visualize how Long Tail Keywords work...

Hi Spencer, I was just hit by penguin update which killed my $2,000 month site. I was getting 2k daily visitors and now am getting 500 daily. I made the biggest mistake by using only private blog networks.

I have other site which were built in same manner but not hit yet maybe because i spent more time on those site adding high quality content?

Do you think I should manually build blog comment linking to my site? But i will be posting comments on related sites to my niche.

I’m not so sure I would “build blog comments” just for the sake of link building. However, if there are relevant articles that you truly read, they certainly you can comment. Just don’t overdo it with keyword anchor text.

    Hi Spencer,
Your internal links aren’t linking to the Webinar, but only to the Niche Website Theme you are selling. I would like to watch the whole webinar if possible!

    • Spencer Haws says:

Actually they do link to the webinar. On the Niche Website Theme page, just below the video are links to the webinar in .wmv and .mp4 format. Take a second look…thanks!

    Hey Spencer,

I really enjoyed the webinar. It was good to hear someone else reinforce the fact that the sky isn’t caving in due to the Panda updates.

I’m totally impressed with the Niche Website Theme (I’ve been tweeting about it!). I have been releasing my niche sites in chunks of 30. The next batch of sites are going to be rocking the Niche Website Theme exclusively.

I’ve actually seen a handful of sites using the theme already. It looks like it’s going take off! Good job buddy.

This is the major change of Google, however, if we look at opportunity, we will see that some of the big site also being hit hard by this shift and so it is our great chance to build quality site, use white hat SEO and marketing to dominate the keyword which seem to be impossible in the past.

    Great post.

I believe that Google is looking to reward positive (read unique and engaging content) over backlinked content. However i see that the trend is different depending on what part of the globe you are from.

Our company based in NZ have dealt with several companies who were penalised in the penguin update. 3 were for keyword stuffing, the other had their links removed. Tellingly the backlink problem was from .co.uk tlds.

It seems that across Australasia the online industry it us filled with ‘keyword = good’ amateur webmasters. This has lead to poor quality sites and results, which makes justifying the good work SEO professionals do, that much harder.

I hope that this update scares the “keyword = good’ mentality out of the industry, but im fearful for all those companies who have no idea about the ongoing management of their site and the penguin effects that they havent even noticed yet.

In terms of black hat backlinkers, i applaude Googles efforts to fix the issue!

    Thanks for the post!

    Hey Spencer,

Has there been any recent updates to the Niche Website Theme?

I bought this back last year and I noticed there hasn’t been any news to the theme builder. Is this theme still viable with google? Just wondering with all the recent G updates if this theme will either leave a footprint or cause your site not to rank?

I hope upgrades to this theme hasn’t been abandoned.

Hope to hear your input on this.

Howdy! I understand this is kind of off-topic but I needed to ask.

Does managing a well-established website such as yours take a large amount of work?
I am brand new to operating a blog however I do write in my diary everyday.

I’d like to start a blog so I can share my own experience and views online. Please let me know if you have any ideas or tips for brand new aspiring blog owners. Appreciate it!
