I’m Looking for Some Seed Keywords…

I’m Looking for Some Seed Keywords…

I wanted to try an experiment on this coming Monday (October 3rd) related to keyword research.  But to make the experiment a bit more interesting, I wanted to use the input you provide for me in the first step.  On Monday I plan on posting a video of me hopefully finding a good keyword or 2; that would be great keywords to build a niche website on.  You see I continually get questions from people asking how I am able to find so many great keywords.  Some state that they spend hours and hours trying to find a good keyword to build a niche website on only to come up empty handed.

So I plan on creating an in-depth video of me going step by step revealing how I think about keywords and eventually how I find a great keyword (hopefully).

Here is What I Need From You:

In the comments section below please list 1 or 2 seed keywords that you would like me to start the process with.  These seed keywords could be any word or phrase; like: “dogs”, “toaster oven”, or “bumper stickers”.  Anyway, that’s about it.  Just comment below with any seed keyword or two, and I will use these as a launching point on Monday as I demonstrate how to find a great keyword.

I can’t promise that I will be using all the keywords mentioned below, but I look forward to seeing some of your suggestions!  And be sure to check back here on Monday, it should be interesting…

How Long Tail Pro Can Help You Capture Way More Search Engine Traffic

If your business could benefit in any way from getting more search engine traffic, I have some good news.

Search engines are in love with long tail keywords! If you are able to provide relevant content targeting these long tail keywords, then you can see a dramatic increase to the amount of traffic Google and other search engines send you.

Long Tail Pro is a powerful keyword research tool that makes finding these valuable long tail keywords a breeze.

What are “long tail keywords”? Essentially, these are words or phrases that people type into the search engines to find very specific things. Rather than searching for “dog training” a user might search for “how to potty train a pitbull”.

This is an example of a Long Tail Keyword. To visualize how Long Tail Keywords work...

Now I just need to know what micro-niches in those markets will let me get to the micro-brew the fastest.

    Hi Spencer

This is a great thread. Look at all those keywords :-) some really intresting ideas.

Id like to see what you can do with a very high level keyword can you find an adsense making keyword phrase matching your requirements to build from something as generice as

    Bike
    Bicycle

I would be looking to find a keyword phrase that does not have a manufacturer or brand name in it. and good adsense revenue potential.

Ive spent a few hours doing manual work generating a huge list of keywords (1000’s) to no avail.

    Market samuri neither

So lets see what longtail pro can do, you might just get another sale :-)

  52. Dave M says:

Wow, I think you found a few keywords! Rather than add to the list, I want to propose an addendum to some of the keywords already proposed.

Take my friend above, Mk Akam. He suggested Ipad (perfect) and flash drive…

So, what I would like to hear you add to your planned video is when do you feel it is a good idea to go after tech items? I have found loads of great keywords in the tech, web, and gaming sectors but I know historically these keywords have horrible CTR’s.

When would you say to heck with it and make the jump?

    Thanks,
    Dave

Way to go. Nice contrinbution to the tribe!!!! Glad I didnot share my Seed keywords!!!

        Nice work dude.

Still you could have given some back to the group… But heck why…

        • Matthew N says:

Apologies Tom — if you have seen my previous comments I contribute quite a bit to the conversation.

The seed keywords supplied by people were surely just meant to be examples.. why would you share your actual targeted niches publicly?

Spencer has publicly found niche sites and won’t be using them.

But if you really want some: plastic boxes. water jugs. led monitors. PABX phones. This is just based on what is sitting in front of me. The world is full of seed keywords. Just open your telephone directory and you have literally thousands.

  70. Melanie says:

Hope it’s not too late, would love
to see you research the designer clothing keyword.

Thanks for all the great content.

  71. Rob says:

    Spencer,
You have a lot of unselfish people here on this board willing to give their keyword ideas. Very nice to see this type of site. I too am anxious to see the video since I currently use Market Samurai. Although its one of the easiest to use I find it too slow even with a fast broadband connection. I’ve tried others but not happy. I end up using a few of these programs to research and it becomes an exercise in switching from screen to screen. This just distracts from the actual research process where you start to see patterns in keywords. Thanks Spencer for your unselfishness as well in helping others.

These are some great ideas for seed keywords. Thanks for all the ideas guys. I took a bunch of these and added them into LTP to see what kind of results came out of the software :)

  76. Rhys says:

Im just about to get started with keyword research for a niche website and Dave raised a really important point.

We niche website creators rely on generating income from a variety of ways but ultimately on click through rates to either other peoples products or our own.

Therefor wouldn’t it be wise to do some pre research on what industries, angles, subjects offer the best CTR’s?

Has anybody took this thought deeper?

    Rhys
