How Long Tail Pro Can Help You Capture Way More Search Engine Traffic

If your business could benefit in any way from getting more search engine traffic, I have some good news.

Search engines are in love with long tail keywords! If you are able to provide relevant content targeting these long tail keywords, then you can see a dramatic increase to the amount of traffic Google and other search engines send you.

Long Tail Pro is a powerful keyword research tool that makes finding these valuable long tail keywords a breeze.

What are “long tail keywords”? Essentially, these are words or phrases that people type into the search engines to find very specific things. Rather than searching for “dog training” a user might search for “how to potty train a pitbull”.

This is an example of a Long Tail Keyword. To visualize how Long Tail Keywords work...

Great bonus offer. Before I buy I would like to know how often you update and what kind of support is offered with Long Tail Pro to keep up with G’s algo changes? My current keyword software is getting harder to use by the day. From the videos I have watched LTP is lightening fast which is what I am looking for.

    Thanks Spencer

    • Spencer says:

We update the software frequently, at least once a week. We have several programmers working on the project to keep everything running smoothly. We have made about 14 updates in the past couple of months just to give you an idea. And we have a dedicated ticketing system right here: where we respond in less than 24 hours.

    Hi Spencer

Just wanted to say thats a really neat. Especially building it right into LongTailPro as well. Qudos.

  3. Mike says:

As a LTP owner I’ve already watched the video twice. It is definitely up to Spencer’s high standards!

  4. Miggy says:

Thanks for this video Spencer, I’ve watched it and helped me look for my upcoming niche projects.

I now have 5 niche websites on their 2nd week of going live. Two of them are already ranking nicely. Will probably do some link building by next week.

  5. Lindsay Collins says:

Hey Spencer, when looking at PR with Long Tail Pro, what does NaN mean? I know we should look for PR of 0 or a -, but not sure about NaN.

  6. TP says:

I am new to internet marketing and SEO – been studying this stuff for the past three months or so. I couple of days ago I came across your site while reading up on keyword analysis and needless to say I am hooked. I must congratulate you on your superb site and the refreshing honesty with which you have shared your experience.
I have a couple of questions for you. The search volumes that you specified, does it apply to websites that intend to monetize via adsense only or by other other means too (say affiliate programs)? If I choose to monetize via affiliate programs (only one or two) only related to my niche, what should be the minimum search volume? In case of adsense monetization only, what is desired search volume? Also do you take into consideration only US searches?

    • Spencer says:

TP – Welcome to the site first of all…glad you are enjoying what you read! Here is a a post I did about search volumes: . The answer is Yes, I only look at local US search volume. The absolute minimum search volume is 1,000/mth – but I would ONLY go after this if I think I can rank in the top 3 AND its a really high paying keyword. This would be the same for any affiliate programs as well. A better search volume is around 5k or more per month. Hope that helps!

  7. Excellent Offer Spencer!

Does the training go into which themes work well with niche sites and also the best plugins and their configuration?

    Cheers, John

    • Spencer says:

Hey John…thanks for your interest! No, I do not go into themes or plugins in much depth. I do however, specifically walk through 2 or 3 sites and explain why the layouts are good or bad. These explanations will be better than giving you specific themes in my opinion because they will help you better layout your ads for ANY theme you might be using.

  8. Dean says:

+1 on John’s question about themes.

I would also add does it explain about what ad placement seems to pull the best?

Spencer, I was highly considering buying LTP but I have an aff’ link. Would I still receive the video? And if so, how?

    • Spencer says:

Hey Dean – as explained above, I do go into detail about ad placement including live examples of a few different sites.

You will get the bonus videos no matter where you buy Long Tail Pro. Access to the bonus video is delivered in the zip file along with the software.

      • Dean says:

Spencer, I’ve studied and read about everything in your blog and I might ad it’s been awesome. In your video do you talk about things that haven’t already been brought up before in your blog?

        • Spencer says:

Yes, there are some new nuggets of information on the videos including ad placement examples, etc. However, because its on video AND I am giving a dialogue for over an hour – I’m sure I cover more information in greater detail that I could on this blog.

  9. Phil says:

I have watched the video and it is the clearest approach to how to build niche sites that I have seen. It is tremendous, Thanks.

P.S. I hope you will do more training videos.

  10. Dean says:

    RE: LTP

I’ll be using an online KW tool but it doesn’t show .org.
Can I import my keywords into LTP and see what domain names are available?

    • Alex says:

Although I am not Spencer, I currently use the LTP software.

The answer is Yes! — you select what keywords (seeds) you want to search on, and there is a optional section of filters you can use on your search. One of those options is to see what possible domain names are available. You can chose to show .org domains!

      I hope this helps!

      Best of luck,

      • Dean says:

I understand that and it’s a nice feature. But what I’m asking is if you can IMPORT a list of KWs so I can check the domain availability.

    • Spencer says:

Dean you cannot import keywords as you are describing. Any keywords you input in the “seed keywords” list will generate additional keywords. As Alex explained it will check for those seed keywords you input – but I don’t think that’s quite what you were asking.

If all you want to do is check for domain availability on a list of keywords you can use the godaddy bulk domain checker here:

  11. Ale says:

As you know, I have been using LTP for a bit now, and I continue to be impressed with your product. I recently received the e-mail containing the link to the LTP training course that you are now including as a bonus offer on all new purchases of LTP. I have not had a chance to watch the video, but certainly plan to do so this weekend.

Thanks for your continued support and efforts, providing your followers with great products, great content, and great support!

I look forward to keeping in touch along the way, and I wish you much continued success!

    Best regards,

  12. Hey Spencer, I miss your beta on WSO.. but love to jump on board. This Video Training would be a great value and another awesome reason to buy.

I know this is a time-saver and I could expand my Adsense Empire better and faster. Great investment!

By the way, does LTP pull the no of backlink data from Yahoo Explorer or somewhere else? I heard Yahoo Explorer may be closed.

Could I use it at work and home installed on different computers?

    • Spencer says:

Yes, it pulls from Yahoo Site explorer. Its still alive and well! I could write alot about the “rumors” of it going away – but its not. If it does, we already have other link sources built in – so we are all set for link data.

      • Quick follow up, could I install on multiple computers? I wouldn’t use multiple launches at the same time though.

      • doddy hartady says:

        hai, spencer…

i already buy long tail pro..

this is one of the best keyword research software that i ever had..

        it pull data very fast…

i’m just wondering, for future update, is there any change that LTP will using maybe, SEOMOZ or MaJESTIC SEO ?

        that will be great addition….

note : sorry for my poor english : )

        • Spencer says:

Yahoo site explorer is still the industry wide standard for showing links. However, we essentially have built in SEOmoz links if we need to ever make the switch.

  13. I wanna say LTP Filter feature is awesome and outstanding. I only care high volume and CPC long tail keywords.

I have Niche Finder helping me to explore niche ideas and find “exact domain names”. However, the difficulty score doesn’t help me much. Most of time, I hop back to MS and do more backlink and SEO competition analysis.

  14. Pete says:

    Hi Spencer,
Long tail pro rocks, its so fast. One question I have is about the rank checker feature. Is it possible to check rank in different countries? To me it looks like its only checking US rankings. I have some UK sites and it would be nice to keep an eye on them too.

    • Spencer says:

Currently it only checks in the US – but thanks for the suggestion, I will have to consider adding the ability to check in other google versions.

  15. Masud Rana says:

Hi,Have you any trial specialty to use free long tail pro?
I will have to test how it work.

  16. Moe says:

Awesome offer, Spencer. I can’t wait to get my staff in the Philippines to watch the videos and start building out my sites!

Related to that comment, you might want to consider developing a version of your videos specifically for outsourced staff.

I’m a Clickbank vendor and spend most of my time on developing new CB products. But I want to add to my Adsense revenue (currently at ~$2k per month), so I’d love a set of videos that are step-by-step and that I can just point my virtual staff to.

  17. Jenny Nassour says:

Just wanted to drop by and say that I received the video since I bought LTP and think it’s worth the price of LTP alone.

I follow several blogs and nothing has been more clear or revealed more specific and relevant information on how to create a niche site than what was in Spencer’s video. It shows all the rookie mistakes and how to analyse the competition (the most useful aspect in my opinion).

I am up to my 6th niche site after buying LTP 3 weeks ago and although my sites are not ranked yet, a handful of people have found my sites already through various search terms and I’ve seen my first clicks come through adsense already!

Thanks so much for your continued support Spencer!

    • Spencer says:

Jenny, thanks for the review! Its great to hear that people are finding the bonus training video valuable! Best of luck with your new niche sites…

  18. david says:

Thanks, I just watched the video, very detailed on the keyword selection, I realized I made many mistakes before. But I hope you will include more detailed information on backlink building. You mentioned a few backlink building methods, but which method is the best? How fast we should build our backlink? etc

  19. Chris Miller says:

Thanks, Spencer. I did get the original email, but it was just a link to this page. I guess I will wait for the link to show up on LTP.

    Thanks again. :)

  20. Arryn Grogan says:

    Hey Spencer,

I’m excited to watch the video – hopefully I’ll have time this weekend.

I had a question for you:

Do any of your sites bounce around on google like crazy? I started my first site about two months ago and have been almost non-existent in google’s eyes. Though, since Sunday the 6th, I was ranked at number four and had a crap-load of comments on my pages. Now today I go and check again, and I can’t find my site again. What’s the deal with that? Is it because google is changing their algorithms? This niche site building is a bit more confusing than I originally thought it would be.

    • Spencer says:

Arryn: I do notice this on some sites; especially when they are newer. Usually this bouncing around stops after a month or 2. And yes, its due to algorithm changes, newness of site, other sites entering the market, and other factors.

  21. aziz says:

    hi Spencer!

plz tell me are this LTP can find keyword frensh? i mean
LPT support keywords frensh ? or support just keyword english?

  22. Brad says:

    Hi Spencer
I have just picked up a copy of LTP and I like the software very much.
One thing that I would like to ask you though is about Yahoo links.
I think it’s fairly well know that Yahoo is not updating the information for much longer and I believe that the data is already out of date.
I was wondering if you plan to integrate another service, such as Majestic, to make sure that the back link information remains as current as possible?

  23. Michael says:

    Hey Spencer,
Why don’t you provide some trial version of your Long Tail Pro? I’m sure it worth 10 times more than the price it has now, but many people including me like to try any items before purchasing, no matter it’s a car or mobile phone or software. I think some 3 or 5 days trial would be great and would increase your sales. At least I would buy LTP after testing :)

    • Spencer says:

Michael – I may add a free trial in the future, but for now I’m happy with the way things are. Remember there is a 60-day money back guarantee as well.

  24. jony says:

    hi spencer….

there is a news about yahoo site explorer that will shut down in november 21, 2011

    you can read here :

what will happen with primary tool long tail pro, since LTP using data from YSE…

will you use another backlink service like majestic or seomoz ?

    • Jon says:

He answered this above: “Long Tail Pro is switching to Open Site Explorer link data provided by”

  25. An says:

Just purchased and started to use this and WOW what a great tool!.

The only thing which seems to be missing is the number of pages a site has in the competition data.

Which brings up the question: Do you actually look at number of pages a site has when determining competition strength?

    • Spencer says:

Do you mean number of competing sites on google? (Number of sites in Google that mention your keyword) or Do you mean the number of content pages a site actually has? The number of content pages a site has is not a very relevant way to judge competition in my opinion.

  26. Lewis says:

    Hi Spencer,

I’m a newbie and want to make Adsense my business platform. The only problem I have is the technical side of setting up WordPress. I will be buying Long Tail Pro shortly, but meanwhile could you suggest a good starting point for building the website?

  27. Hichem says:

    Excelent offer Spencer !
I would like to know if LTP work great with frensh keywords.

I plan to create about 20 Micro Niche for the frensh G research.

  28. Bill says:

I think im going to definitely try it. I have been looking for long tail program. I also enjoy your weekly posts of information as well! thanks again!

  29. Todd says:

Just purchased Long Tail Pro several hours ago. I feel like I have already located 5-6 solid keywords to start niche websites on. Can it really be this easy? I had used SBI’s system in the past and liked their system, but by far this is more simple, yet also more relevant!

  30. Niche Pursuits sounds like a good accompanyment to my new membership site launching on the 15th of June 2012 – It can be found here: – Spencer if your looking for a great product to offer contact me before the launch date – Richard Monssen
